Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest

A traffic stop in Waterloo led to the arrest of a passenger and the recovery of a stolen gun, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Deputies pulled over a Mitsubishi Galant around 11:30 Wednesday night in the area of East Fourth and Franklin Streets. A passenger, 22 year old Seveion Hayes, jumped out of the car and ran with a backpack. Hayes was apprehended a short time later and his discarded backpack was recovered. Police found a stolen Taurus Millennium handgun in the bag. Hayes has been charged with Trafficking in Stolen Weapons, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Interference While Armed, Carrying Weapons, and Possession of Marijuana. He is currently on probation for a felony robbery in 2015.
