Tripoli Indoor Pool’s Future to be Discussed

The Tripoli City Council and the Tripoli Park and Rec Board is asking the public for their input on the future of the indoor pool. The pool needs at least $15,000 in emergency repairs. The council would like to know if the citizens of Tripoli believe they should find the funds for the repairs or look to repurpose the building. The city says the pool generates about $20,000 in annual revenue, about $5,000 from aquasize memberships and about $15,000 in admissions and concessions mostly from parties in the evenings. It costs $45,000 annually to run which means it typically operates at a loss of $25,000. That is normal as community pools are seen as a service, not a business. In addition to the $15,000 in emergency repairs the baby pool is currently leaking under the concrete and those repairs would likely be around $50,000. There will be a public hearing on Wednesday, November 1st at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall where community members can voice their concerns. Citizens are encouraged to discuss and collaborate with neighbors and friends to make the best decision.
