Tripoli Man Leads Police on High Speed Chase

A Tripoli man has been arrested after leading law enforcement on a chase through Butler and Bremer Counties in a stolen truck on Monday. The Butler County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call on Monday that a red pickup was driving at a high rate of speed, running stop lights, and passing other motorists on the shoulder. A Deputy attempted to talk with the driver, identified as 31 year old Nicholas Schwartz, but he took off in the truck. The chase continued into Tripoli where stop sticks were utilized. Schwartz attempted to flee on foot but was caught a block away from the scene. Law enforcement eventually learned that the truck had been stolen from the Tripoli bowling alley earlier that day. He has been charged with Eluding and OWI. More charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.
