Tyson in Waterloo Not Sanctioned

The Tyson Foods plant in Waterloo will not be sanctioned by the Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Administration after an inspection into working conditions, according to KWWL. Lawmakers filed an OSHA complaint alleging that inadequate personal protective equipment and no social distancing led to an outbreak of COVID-19 at the plant. The plant was voluntarily shut down for two weeks in late April. The company says numerous other steps have been taken since then at the plant, which is the largest of its kind in the state. More than 1,000 of its 2,800 workers have tested positive for the virus with several dying.
