Authorities have upgraded charges against a Waterloo man who allegedly murdered his mother earlier this month, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 27 year old Nicolas Fettkether was originally charged with second degree Murder in the death of his mother, 50 year old Stephanie Turner, those charges have now been upgraded to first degree Murder. Police say Fettkether murdered his mother at their Butternut Lane mobile home in the early morning hours of April 4th. He then allegedly walked to a friend’s house in the North Cedar neighborhood of Cedar Falls and claimed someone had broken into the mobile home and killed his mom. Fettkether faces life in prison without the possibility of parole if he is convicted.
