A Mason City woman was injured after her vehicle was struck by a train in Rudd on Sunday night. 36 year old Yesenia Claypool was traveling northbound on 6th Street in Rudd around 7:30 when she came upon train tracks with the railroad arms down in the horizontal position. Claypool decided to try to go around the arms. A Canadian Pacific train struck Claypool’s vehicle on the driver’s side. Claypool was taken to MercyOne Hospital in Mason City. The Iowa State Patrol crash report notes that her life was saved by wearing her seatbelt. Her condition is unknown at this time.
