W-SR Investigating Who Made Remarks from the Outfield

In an email to families in the school district the Waverly-Shell Rock administration is now saying that they aren’t sure it was a student that made racist comments toward a Black Charles City baseball player. W-SR says they are conducting an investigation into the event that happened while the young man from Charles City was in the outfield who is unable to identify the persons responsible.

The comments did not come from a baseball player and Go-Hawk coach Casey Klunder shares when they learned the incident had happened.

Klunder added that he is upset that some have falsely accused the team of being involved in the incident.

The Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier is reporting that the person who made the comments said, “You should have been George Floyd.” which is slightly different than what was in Charles City’s initial release.
