A Waterloo man has been arrested after running from police, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Police say they noticed a Cadillac Escalade going 63mph in a 35mph zone around 7:20 Thursday night. When they tried to stop the vehicle, it took off. In the 100 block of Edwards Street the driver got out of the vehicle and attempted to run. They jumped a chain link fence but was quickly taken into custody. The man was identified as 53 year old Durrell Jackson. He was charged with Eluding and released pending trial. In 2000 Jackson was handed a life sentence for distributing kilogram quantities of crack and powder cocaine. That sentence was reduced to 30 years in federal prison after a change to the law. Jackson was released September 27th.
