Cedar Falls Police, Fire, and Paramedics were called to the First Street Bridge Tuesday evening on a report of an overturned kayak. Officers found two subjects clinging to a large log in the river. They were wearing life jackets. Attempts were made to make the rescue by both boat and shore but they proved unsuccessful due to the river conditions and the terrain. A high angle rope rescue was performed from the bridge and brought the two subjects to safety. They were uninjured and their kayak was recovered downstream.
