A crash near Mason City on Wednesday morning killed a Waterloo man, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 52 year old Amar Pinjo was traveling southbound in Freightliner on California Avenue when he failed to stop at the Highway 122 intersection. A Chevrolet Silverado driven by 57 year old Matt Hoveland of Osage struck Pinjo’s semi, sending it into a cornfield. Pinjo was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Hoveland was taken to MercyOne North Iowa where he was treated for his injuries and released. A thick fog was present at the time of the crash and may have contributed to the collision.
