Waterloo Man Takes Plea Deal

A Waterloo man has taken a plea deal stemming from an altercation in 2017, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 28 year old Wyle Kelly was facing up to 10 years in prison on a charge of Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury until he took a plea deal of Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury. That charge carries up to five years in prison. The defense will request a deferred judgment which would see the charge erased from his criminal history if he completes probation. Kelly is accused of knocking Wade Kearney unconscious and stomping on his head several times on September 15, 2017 after Kearney shattered Kelly’s front window and broke down the door. Kearney suffered a brain bleed, a torn septum, and was unconscious for several days. Kelly will be sentenced in December.
