The city of Waterloo is considering installing a roundabout at the Six Corners intersection and turning some one way roads into two way roads downtown, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Discussion surrounding the roundabout at Six Corners began back in 2016 when the city was given a $484,000 grant from the Iowa Department of Transportation. The proposed roundabout would be peanut shaped. The company tasked with putting the plan together is looking for feedback from the city and, if given the go ahead, would put together a two year, two phase project. The first phase is estimated to cost $9.3 million with the second phase costing $4.2 million. The idea to turn downtown one way roads into two way roads comes after a study found a two way system made it easier for people to access businesses.
