Waterloo Teenager Arrested

A Waterloo teenager has been arrested after allegedly stealing a truck and then pulling a gun on the owner when they tried to retrieve the truck, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Police say that on Friday morning around 5:30 16 year old Kenteaivon Obanner stole a GMC Sierra that was parked outside the Kwik Star on Donald Street in Waterloo. Then, shortly before noon, the owner spotted the truck on Reed Street and approached the vehicle to retrieve it. Obanner was allegedly inside and pulled a handgun on the owner and demanded $200. Obanner then drove off and a brief police chase followed until he lost control of the truck, got out and ran. Police allegedly found a handgun along the pursuit path. That gun had been reported stolen by Obanner’s mother’s boyfriend. Obanner was taken into custody later in the day after police found him riding a bike in the area of East Fourth and Sumner Streets. He has been charged as an adult with first degree Robbery and Interference While Armed With a Firearm.
