The city of Waverly has a number of projects going on this Summer. The city has provided updates on a couple.
The west water tower next to Bremer Avenue has had the framework for the tarp system installed. The tarp system will control the drift of dust and paint during blasting and painting. In addition, air filtration equipment and a specialized blasting abrasive will ensure the work is safe for the surrounding community.
The Baskins Creek Trail Bridge on the Waverly Rail Trail has had the concrete poured for the deck as of Thursday. Next step will be replacing portions of the trail and the connections to the bridge.
The other major project in town is not a city project. The Iowa Department of Transportation will be replacing the Bremer Avenue Bridge. The project is slated to start on August 1st and the bridge will be closed until September of next year if the construction stays on schedule. Because this is a DOT project the city will not have control of it.
