Waverly Fire Dept. Adjusts to Bridge Closure

The City of Waverly has announced that a fire truck will be stationed on the east side of town for the duration of the Bremer Avenue Bridge project. The positioning of the truck will allow for quick response to an emergency on that side of town. The fire station is positioned on the western bank of the Cedar River and crews would have needed to travel the detour routes to reach calls on the east side of town, which would have extended the time it takes to respond.

Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Miller explains the plan.

The bridge project is expected to last into the Fall of 2025.
