Multiple outlets are reporting that the man struck by a car early Sunday morning in Waverly is 56 year old David Schmalz. Schmalz was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment including multiple surgeries. Schmalz’ emergency contact according to KWWL was Tyson Beach, owner of the Beach House. He told them that Schmalz’ condition is not good and may need to be put back onto a ventilator. Beach says several different fundraisers have been set up for Schmalz, including a blood drive in the next couple of weeks. A Gofundme has also been set up.
