The Waverly Police Department has announced the promotions in the wake of the retirement of Captain Don Eggleston. Sgt. Cory Stephens has been promoted to Captain while Officer Tyler Homeister has been promoted to Sergeant. Stephens has been with the Waverly Police Department for 15 years. He was the BCPOA Peace Officer of the Year in 2020. Homeister has been with the WPD for 10 years. Stephens will take over for Eggleston as Patrol Captain. Homeister will be assigned to 3rd shift to fill the void left by Stephens. Eggleston will retire at the end of the month.
