The Waverly Aquatic Center will not be opening on schedule.
Leisure Services Director Garrett Riordan gave this update at the council meeting Monday.
The pool might not open at all this summer and if it does it won’t be open until August. Riordan explains the best case scenario for this year.
The city says following the completion of the project a state pool inspection will need to be completed and lifeguard training will need to take place. Also, with the timing of the opening it was difficult to hire enough lifeguards to fulfill the required number of lifeguards for the facility. City administrator James Bronner told us that they anticipate not having this hiring issue next pool season.
