A Waterloo woman has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to her own apartment when she lived in Dubuque in 2021. 52 year old Reva Lyons was charged with one count of first degree Arson and three Failure-to-Appear warrants. Investigators say that fire crews were called to Lyons’ apartment in Dubuque on the morning of September 7th of 2021 where they found flames coming from the north side of the building. Lyons told them she plugged in a rechargeable flashlight which sparked and ignited the carpet. She said she tried to put the fire out with water and a bag of cat litter. Authorities say they never found any trace of litter or the flashlight at the scene. They also reported there were no outlets within five feet of the closet. Lyons was in the process of being evicted from the apartment for allegedly damaging property at the time. She also was awaiting trial for allegedly throwing a board at a neighbor and stealing a security camera.
