A Waterloo woman has been arrested for allegedly trying to set a building on fire, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Residents at a duplex on Grant Avenue called police around 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday after noticing a small fire near a gas meter. When firefighters arrived on scene they found burning clothing tied around a brick next to the meter and signs of a previous fire near the door. The fire was quickly extinguished with no significant damage to the building. During the investigation 30 year old Diamond Campbell admitted to setting the fire near the door, she said she did so in an effort to avoid the neighbors dog and safely make it to her car. She claimed to have not set the fire by the meter. Security camera footage allegedly shows Campbell setting that fire too, however. She was taken into custody and charged with first degree Arson. In 2013 Campbell was convicted of Reckless Use of Fire for setting a fire inside a home.
