An Illinois woman who was staying at a Cedar Falls motel has been arrested after her three dogs were found to be malnourished, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 55 year old Billie Wentzel has been charged with three counts of Animal Neglect Causing Injury. Officers were called to the AmericInn Lodge and Suites on Nordic Drive on August 12th where they found a Maltese, a Pitbull, and a Rottweiler. A Humane Society evaluation found that the Maltese had a limp and dental issues. The Pitbull was underweight and had bacterial and yeast infections. The Rottweiler was severely malnourished, had conjunctivitis in both eyes, an ear infection, a bacterial and yeast infection covering most of the body, and dental issues. Wentzel also picked up a weapons charge after a .40 caliber pistol was found in her belongings. She is prohibited from handling firearms due to felony convictions out of Illinois and Arizona.
