An arrest has been made in a case stemming from a death in Bremer County back in May. 77 year old Sylvia Schwerin of rural Sumner died on May 30th after being rushed to Community Memorial Hospital the day before. Authorities became suspicious about the death after burn injuries were found on approximately 20% of her body for which she failed to receive medical attention. An autopsy completed the next day ruled the manner of death as undetermined but noted the thermal injuries were a significan contributing factor. It also noted that the burns were believed to have occurred by accident. On Thursday the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office arrested 56 year old Debra Kleppe of Tripoli and charged her with non support of a dependent adult. Kleppe has been released on the promise that she will appear in court.
