Woman Convicted of Scam

A Waterloo woman who has been accused of scamming a family out of money for medical procedures she did not have, has been sentenced in separate theft case in Grundy County, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 46 year old Shawn Tomkins, also known as Shawn Adams was sentenced to three to five years in prison for selling items she did not own from a rural Dike farm. Tomkins took multiple people to the farm where she took and sold tools, a woodchipper, a John Deere lawn tractor, a Triggs livestock trailer, and a surrey horse buggy for more than $1000. She is currently awaiting trial in Black Hawk County after she allegedly took more than $57,000 from a family, claiming she had a kidney transplant, tumors and other affliction. When they family uncovered the alleged lie she accused the man of sexually abusing her son.
