A Waterloo man was taken into custody Sunday evening after a standoff with police, according to KWWL. Police were called to the 100 block of Conger Street around 6:30pm on a report of shots fired. When they arrived on scene they found 53 year old Dean Smith and a woman. The two had apparently gotten into an argument before Smith pulled out a gun and fired a shot that missed the woman. He then barricaded himself in the home and engaged in a standoff with police for approximately 45 minutes before surrendering. He was taken to the Black Hawk County Jail and faces several weapons related charges.
