The second woman who admitted to stealing more than $127,000 from an elderly person in Charles City has been sentenced, according to KIMT. 65 year old Sondra Newberry took a plea deal to third degree Theft. She will spend one year on supervised probation and must pay $10,000 to her victim. Newberry and 37 year old Charmaine Carr held power of attorney over the victim when they withdrew more than $127,000 from the woman’s account and used the money in a way that was not in the best interest of the woman. Carr previously pleaded guilty to fifth degree Theft, was placed on a year of supervised probation, and must pay damages to the victim.
