A Waterloo woman who crashed her car into a church early Monday morning has been arrested on firearm charges, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 34 year old Rachel Sanders told police that she was being chased by another vehicle that had shot at her at around 12:45 Monday morning. She said she turned down a service road to avoid a train when she ran into the back of the Waterloo Worship Center on Jefferson Street, damaging the church’s natural gas meter. Further investigation allegedly found a gun owned by Sanders with a scratched off serial number. Police say she had fired her own gun near the crash site and outside of her home the day prior. Police were called to her home at around 2:40 Sunday morning on a report of a burning car. That case remains under investigation. Sanders has been charged with Intimidation With a Weapon, two counts of Reckless Use of a Firearm, Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Deliver, and Violation of the Drug Tax Stamp Act.
