The Waterloo Police Protective Association has released a statement regarding the two approved designs to replace the current Waterloo Police patch featuring a Griffin. The association says they are disappointed with both designs saying neither look anything like a Griffin or the head of an eagle and they believe it looks more like a peacock. The WPPA has suggested a compromise, one they say would not offend anyone. Their idea is to keep the current yellow background simply with the words Waterloo Police in red. It is unclear if this option will be considered.
