A Hall of Fame wrestling official from Waterloo has died. Mike Allen was a graduate of East High School before he became an All Conference football player and a Conference Champion wrestler at UNI. During his 35 years as a wrestling official he became one of the most recognizable and worked many big events. National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum Executive Director, Jim Miller, called him one of the most accomplished wrestling officials of all time. Allen is a member of at least three Halls of Fame; the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, the Iowa High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame, and the Iowa African-American Hall of Fame. He also served as Athletic Director at East. Allen was 74 years old.
