A 15 year old from Waterloo has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter in the shooting death of 20 year old A’Tarion Spates on July 6th, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Police say a number of people had gathered at Spates’ home and were shooting guns for fun. The 15 year old was firing an AR-15. One round allegedly hit Spates, ultimately killing him. The teen has also been charged with Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury after another round he allegedly fired travelled a block away and struck a woman on her porch. She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police say they are still looking for additional information on the shooting from the public.
