The United States continues to lead the Olympic Medal Count. Team USA has 75 total medals, China is second with 46. Americans have won 26 gold, 23 silver and 26 bronze. No one from the U.S. won a gold medal Monday.
American Allyson Felix nearly had gold in the women’s 400 meter dash but was foiled by a dive. Felix was approaching the finish line in the lead when Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas dove head first to edge her and earn gold. Felix now has 7 career Olympic medals.
Former Iowa State All-American Hillary Bor won his heat in the men’s 3,000 meter steeplechase to punch his ticket in to the event final at the Rio Olympics.
