Tuesday COVID-19 Update

The governor updated COVID-19 numbers at 11:00 today. 19 more Iowans have died for a total of 207 deaths. 408 more Iowans have tested positive for a total of 10,111 test confirmed cases. 80% of all new cases have come from the 22 still closed counties with most new cases originating from Polk and Woodbury Counties. 3,572 Iowans that tested positive have recovered. Governor Kim Reynolds said the increase in numbers is due to what she described as “fishing where the fish are.”

Iowa Department of Public Health says 444 employees at Tyson in Waterloo tested positive for coronavirus.

The area COVID-19 numbers have been updated. Bremer County has no new cases today for a total of 55 cases and 5 deaths. Butler County added a case for a total of 10, Chickasaw increased to 6 total confirmed cases, and Black Hawk County reports 1,546 cases and 3 more dead for a total of 18 deaths. Black Hawk County is reporting 158 more cases than the Iowa Department of Public Health shows, we have chosen to use the county’s more accurate figures.
