The NCAA Division-I Wrestling Championships are underway, too. All six Panthers from UNI wrestling stayed alive in the Division I National Wrestling Championships, while three wrestlers advanced to the quarterfinals.
The Panthers rattled off four wins that included two sets of bonus points and three top-15 wins to end the first day at the national tournament.
The three quarterfinalists is the most for the Panther team since the 2014 national championships.
Bryce Steiert from Waverly-Shell Rock opened his day with a fall at 165 pounds and followed it up by knocking off #6 Logan Massa of Michigan. He will get his shot at avenging a 3-2 loss to #4 Josh Shields of Arizona State.
