The city of Bristow has been under a bottle water advisory for the past 5 days.
The city clerk says there was a mechanical issue with the pump for the well that goes into the town. Bristow switched to a back-up well, which has tested high for nitrates in the past, so even boiling the water won’t help.
She is advising that everyone uses bottled water for everything other than bathing.
No one has reported getting sick from the water at this time. The city says this is normal protocol when switching wells.
Officials with the city are bringing water samples to Waterloo for testing. They are expecting to hear results by 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
