Tuesday on KWAY Country at Wells Fargo Arena the Go-Hawk girls basketball season came to an end as Center Point-Urbana beat them for the second time this season 45-41 in overtime. The Go-Hawks led by as many as 11 points in the 3rd quarter before the Stormin’ Pointers made their charge. Both teams had chances to win in regulation but it was tied at 34 before heading to overtime. In OT a pair of 3’s by CP-U put them over the hump. Abby Draper led the Go-Hawks with 14 points and 10 rebounds. W-SR finishes with a 20-3 record.
Tuesday night on Y99.3 the Denver Cyclones lost to 1-seeded Cascade 41-28. The Cyclones got down 26-8 at halftime and made good adjustments in the second half but it was too little too late against a very good Cougar team.
In other scores at the State Tournament: in 3A Bishop Heelan ran by Des Moines Christian 50-38; in 4A North Scott thumped Clear Creek Amana 63-43, Glenwood outscored Gilbert 89-75 and Lewis Central edged Ballard 47-46 in overtime; and in 2A Osage beat West Branch 50-43.
