The first round of the first ever virtual NFL Draft is in the books. As expected LSU quarterback and Ohio native Joe Burrow was taken by the Cincinnati Bengals with the first overall pick. In fact the first three picks of the draft had played for Ohio State for at least part of their college careers.
Surprisingly Iowa offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs of Mt. Vernon slipped out of the top ten. Wirfs will be protecting Tom Brady as he was taken 13th by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers traded with San Francisco to move up to get him. Wirfs was the only Iowa player selected in the first round.
Coverage of Friday’s portion of the draft begins at 6:00 on ABC, ESPN and the NFL Network.
