Governor Terry Branstad is sending a message in the wake of the Orlando massacre.
Branstad, along with the Iowa Departments of Public Safety and Homeland Security, are launching a “See Something, Say Something” campaign, urging Iowans to stay alert at home. Branstad said while Iowa is generally a safe state, recent tragedies show you can never be too safe. Branstad told reporters Monday that he receives monthly briefings, showing that every state, including Iowa, faces threats. He told reporters there are all types of threats, but the biggest one comes from “radical Islamic terrorists.” and that there are “Threats from Islamic extremists in every state.” Under the campaign, radio ads will play later this month until the end of July, reminding Iowans to be on the lookout for and to report any suspicious activity
