Wednesday night the Waverly-Shell Rock baseball team shutout Aplington-Parkersburg 6-0. Josh Buresh and John Stensland combined for a 2 hitter as the Go-Hawks picked up their 17th win of the year. Waverly-Shell Rock will next be in action Friday night at home against Decorah.
Wednesday night in area baseball: CAL beat Tripoli 6-4, Colo-Nesco blanked Clarksville 10-0, Derorah swept Waterloo Columbus 7-4 and 7-4, Dike-New Hartford edged North Tama 9-7, Janesville outscored Dunkerton 16-5 and Sumner-Fredericksburg beat South Winn 3-1.
Wednesday night in area softball: Colo-Nesco beat Clarksville 5-4, Don Bosco edged North Tama 8-7, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura thumped Nashua-Plainfield 13-6, Jesup swept Hudson 12-0 and 12-0, Sumner-Fredericksburg shutout Aplington-Parkersburg 14-0, Union beat Marion 4-2 and Union topped Cedar Rapids Washington 8-2.
