Wednesday on KWAY Country Waverly-Shell Rock won in 4 sets over 2-seed North Scott in the Class 4A State Volleyball Semifinals. The Go-Hawks won 25-22, 19-25, 25-17, 32-30. 3-seed Waverly-Shell Rock will play 1-seed Western Dubuque Thursday on KWAY Country AM 1470 FM 96.3. Prematch at noon and first serve at 12:15. The Go-Hawks are in the title match for the 4th time in school history. Waverly-Shell Rock finished 2nd in 1998 and won it all in both 2009 and 2011.
Wednesday on Y99.3 at the State Volleyball Tournament in Class 2A Dike-New Hartford blew by Denver in 3 sets: 25-12, 25-10, 25-12. The Wolverines will play Thursday afternoon at 4:45 in the Class 2A State Championship against Western Christian as Dike-New Hartford pursues their 8th State Crown. Denver finished the year 37-8.
The other championship match-ups Thursday are: In Class 1A 1-seed Burlington Notre Dame against 3-seed Springville at 7:00, in Class 3A 4-seed West Liberty vs. 1-seed West Delaware at 2:30 and in Class 5A 4- seed Cedar Falls takes on 2-seed Pleasant Valley at 10:00 Thursday morning.
