Monday night on Y99.3 Mason City Newman swept Dunkerton. In the girls game Newman caught fire in the second half to win 65-52. Peyton Smith led all scorers with 15 points. In the boys game 6th ranked Newman beat 8th ranked Dunkerton 86-62. Kaden Behrens led the Raiders with 18 points and Doug Taylor had 32 for the Knights.
Monday night on KWAY Country the 10th ranked Waverly-Shell Rock girls beat 14th ranked Gilbert 51-37. The Tigers led the Go-Hawks 20-17 and the Go-Hawks even failed to score a field goal in the 1st quarter. To begin the second half the Go-Hawks went on a 20-2 run and never looked back. Go-Hawk Katelyn Eggena led all scorers with 22 points.
In other girls basketball: Aplington-Parkersburg downed Janesville 72-26 and Hudson edged New Hampton 59-55.
In boys basketball: Aplington-Parkersburg beat Janesville 70-40 and Nashua-Plainfield edged North Butler 48-42.
