Thursday night was the Northeast Iowa Conference Track and Field Meet. On the girls side Decorah won with 160.5 points, New Hampton took 2nd with 142 points and Waverly-Shell Rock was 3rd with 83.5 points. On the boys sided Decorah won with 162 points and Waverly-Shell Rock was 2nd with 158.5 points.
Thursday in high school golf the Waverly-Shell Rock girls finished 3rd behind New Hampton and Sumner-Fredericksburg at the New Hampton Golf and Country Club.
Thursday night on KWAY Country the 5th ranked Waverly-Shell Rock soccer team beat 4th ranked Xavier 2-1. Anna Stromberg scored both goals off Macy Smith creations in the first half and Xavier’s Mary Kate Moeder scored in the first half as well. The Go-Hawk defense held on to the win in the second half and helped Waverly-Shell Rock beat Xavier for a third time in a row in one year’s time with each win coming by just one goal.
