Wartburg will receive two electric vehicle charging stations on campus as part of a settlement with Volkswagen. The charging stations will power two vehicles at level two charging. They will be able to take a battery from empty to full in 4-10 hours. Each station is estimated to cost more than $16,500, more than $13,200 will be covered by this grant. This project was one of 18 selected by the Iowa Department of Transportation to utilize money resulting from a settlement with Volkswagen after the car maker deceived regulators about emissions from its vehicles.
