The Waverly Police Department conducted three speed studies at different locations throughout the city in June. They released the results at Monday’s City Council meeting. At the Kwik Star on 4th Street SW they observed 61,358 vehicles from June 13th to June 20th. 60,940 were traveling at 54mph or below. A total of 418 vehicles were traveling 10mph over the speed limit with two vehicles going 66mph or faster. At the corner of 4th Street SW and 29th Avenue SW they saw 64,372 vehicles from June 20th to June 27th. 2,035 vehicles were going at least 10 mph over the speed limit, with six going 66mph or faster. Finally they tracked 80,896 vehicles in the 300 block of East Bremer Avenue from June 27th to July 5th.701 vehicles were going 10mph over the speed limit, including five going 45mph or faster.
