There is more movement in the oldest high school athletic conference in the state. The Upper Iowa Conference voted to accept Crestwood beginning in the 2025-26 academic year. The UIC also voted to extend invitations to Waukon and New Hampton to join their league. In addition the Upper Iowa has rejected Decorah’s request to join the league.
The 104 year old Northeast Iowa Conference appears to be one year from ending given that Waverly-Shell Rock and Crestwood are leaving and every other school has been invited to, accepted into or has explored other conference options publicly.
