The City of Waverly says on their Facebook page that some streets in town had standing water during storms last week because the storm sewer could not keep up. That water stuck around until the storm sewers could catch up. The City is asking citizens to help by checking the storm sewer intakes, or gutters, and clearing them of litter, yard debris, or anything else that may clog the drain. Former Mayor Adam Hoffman suggests not discharging grass clippings into the street because it can lead to blockages like the one pictured on the City Facebook page. Citizens can contact Public Works in they have concerns.
