A Waterloo man has been arrested for stealing a car in January and crashing that car in February, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 25 year old John Fitzpatrick was arrested on June 1st and charged with first degree Theft. Police say a 1997 Lexus 300 was reported stolen on January 22nd. On February 28th police witnessed Fitzpatrick driving the car. About ten minutes later they found the Lexus crashed into a fire hydrant with nobody inside and the engine still on. Inside the car they found paperwork belonging to Fitzpatrick, a photo of the mother of Fitzpatrick’s child and a cigarette butt on which Fitzpatrick’s DNA was found.
