Monday night on Y99.3 the Sumner-Fredericksburg-Tripoli softball team lost a thriller in the State Quarterfinals to Dubuque Wahlert. The 6-seeded Cougars led 5-1 before the 3-seeded Golden Eagles stormed back to take the lead 8-5. S-F-T then scored 3 runs in the 6th to tie the game which eventually went into extra innings. In the bottom of the 8th inning with two outs Julia Roth hit a walk-off home run to right to give Wahlert the win 9-8.
The Sumner-Fredericksburg-Tripoli softball team will have one final game at State Tuesday. Listen to KWAY Country AM 1470 FM 96.3 at 2:15 as the 33-4 Cougars play the 24-5 PCM Mustangs in the consolations. First pitch at 2:30.
