Father of Lyric Cook-Morrissey Arrested for Meth

The father of Lyric Cook-Morrissey, one of the cousins abducted from Evansdale in 2012, has been arrested after methamphetamine was found in his truck during a traffic stop, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 48 year old Daniel Morrissey was pulled over in the area of East Third and Franklin streets after an officer noticed that the license plate on Morrissey’s pickup belonged to another vehicle altogether. The officer called in the help of a K-9 due to Morrissey’s history of drug charges. The dog indicated the presence of drugs and inside a black leather bag, police found 24 grams of meth. Morrissey has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Violation of the Drug Tax Stamp Act. Lyric Cook-Morrisey and her cousin, Elizabeth Collins, were abducted and killed in 2012. Their bodies were found in a remote area of Bremer County. Their case officially remains unsolved.
