A vehicle driven by a Sumner teen allegedly struck a truck driven by a Fredericksburg woman on Friday, causing both vehicles to be deemed total losses. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene around 4pm Friday. They determined the Ford Ranger driven by 22 year old Mariela Mejia had slowed to turn into a farm drive when she was struck from behind by a Ford Fusion driven by 19 year old Caleb Fawcett. Fawcett was allegedly using his phone at the time of the crash. Both individuals were cited, Mejia for Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability and Fawcett for Using An Electronic Device. No injuries were reported in the crash.
