Former Waterloo Mayor’s Son Arrested

The son of former Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart has been arrested for his alleged role in a robbery and defraudment of a man in Linn County, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 18 year old Quenden Hart, who is a student at Wartburg, was arrested in Waverly on Monday. He has been charged with second degree Robbery, first degree Theft, and Credit Card Fraud. Investigators say that in December a person pretending to be credit union inspector called the victim and told him to place his financial cards in his mailbox so they could be picked up by credit union staff as part of an investigation. The next day, the alleged fake inspector again called the victim and told him to withdraw $10,000 in cash so the inspector could come by and verify the withdrawal. Later, a Toyota Avalon pulled up to the victim’s home. The victim brought a bag with the money out to the car. A young male allegedly got out of the car and said he just needed to photograph the cash. As the victim opened the bag, the suspect allegedly grabbed the bag and ran. The victim was able to grab the suspect but was dragged a short distance as the car pulled away. The victim later discovered his cards were allegedly being used to withdraw money from his account. The Avalon was spotted on security camera during one of the transactions. That Avalon was found to be registered to former Mayor Quentin Hart. Quenden Hart’s Wartburg dorm room was searched in January, as was the Avalon. It is unclear if anyone else will be charged in the scheme.
