A Waverly man has died in a hunting accident in Butler County. On December 24th 47 year old Kirk Hummel, and his wife Kathleen were hunting rabbits on a farm near Allison around noon when the incident took place. Reports indicate Kathleen Hummel’s firearm accidentally discharged and the bullet struck her husband. Emergency responders administered immediate medical care, but Mr. Hummel succumbed to the injury and passed away before reaching the hospital. The incident remains under investigation.
